WeatherTech UK Spotlight On: Convertibles
To celebrate the beautiful sunshine we've had this summer we are focusing on convertibles for this month's spotlight on series...
Mazda MX-5 ND
Introduced all the way back in 1989, the MX-5 revived the classic roadster formula of rear wheel drive, natural aspiration and a lightweight chassis. It was a hit globally and 26 years later, the pinnacle of this formula was released with the introduction of the ND (4th generation) MX-5.
11 years, 3 facelifts and 10 special editions later, the ND is still as engaging, unique and fun to drive as ever. Building upon the foundations of its predecessors, the naturally aspirated 1.5L or 2.0L engines rev high and fast, giving you just enough power to have fun without the danger of overstepping the mark.
This perfect formula has accrued an army of loyal, passionate fans over the years who care for their MX-5 well, a value which WeatherTech shares with its products that you can find below.

Volkswagen T-Roc Cabriolet
After the disappointing news that VW would be discontinuing the Golf cabriolet starting with the Mk7 generation (introduced in 2013), there was little discussion or demand for a new mainstream convertible car after their 2000s boom. It came as a bit of a surprise to everyone then when VW announced that the T-Roc, already 3 years into production at this point, would be receiving a cabriolet variant. The result was the first and so far only mainstream SUV cabriolet to be put on general sale.
Interestingly, the T-Roc has a lot to thank the old Golf for, the roof mechanism for example was almost entirely taken from the old design but so was the factory, the engineers and the designers, all based at the Osnabruck plant, where VW's convertible model specialists are housed.
Surprisingly, the T-Roc sold well and it actually out-sold the MX-5, 4 Series Cabriolet and CLE Cabriolet to become the 2nd best selling convertible in Europe, just behind the legendary Mini Cooper which is coming up soon...

Mini Convertible 2013-23
The Mini has been around for almost as long as anyone can remember, initially introduced in 1959, the first convertible version went on sale in 1993 and has been a staple of the Mini line-up ever since.
The 2013-23 generation marked the last run of Minis before the inevitable ground-up Mini EV began production, meaning that for a lot of people this 3rd generation of "New Mini" was the ultimate version of the ICE models. The sales reflected that ultimate status too, with 1 million of the 3 door versions alone manufactured, not to mention the incredible success of the 5 door, convertible, clubman and countryman variants from the same generation. Also, as mentioned earlier, the Mini convertible has been the best selling convertible vehicles in Europe for years now, people really do just love a Mini.
With such a loyal fanbase, it makes sense that you would want to look after such an iconic car, which WeatherTech makes easy with their selection of floorliners, bootliners and seat protectors designed specifically for the Mini convertible.
